LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

Pre-Care Instructions

  •  For eyebrow tattoo removal clients: Do not tint/laminate the area for up to 1 week prior to your laser removal session.

  • Avoid neurotoxins and fillers for 7-14 days prior to treatment.

  • Sunburned, compromised or irritated skin must heal 2 weeks prior to your laser appointment.

  • Topical skin treatments such as Retinols, Hydroquinone, etc. should be avoided in the area for 7-14 days as this can interfere with the healing process and you could risk hyperpigmentation.

  • We are unable to treat patients who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding.

  • If you have experienced an allergic reaction to tattoo ink or pigments, we are unfortunately unable to treat you.

  • For immunocompromised patients or those who have undergone chemotherapy, please allow 6 months from last treatment as there is a higher risk of light sensitivity.

  • Keep in mind that patients with chronic, immune disease or circulatory issues may need longer time to heal in between sessions.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

Post-Care Instructions

DAY OF THE TREATMENT:
- Rinse the area with water 30 minutes after the procedure to remove lymph from the skin and then reapply the ointment using a cotton swab in a thin layer.

NEXT 7 DAYS:
- Clean your hands thoroughly before touching the treated area.
- Wash your face as usual.
- Apply ointment, Aquaphor healing ointment, or fresh aloe vera gel after washing your face. (Ensure the aloe product does NOT have alcohol-derived ingredients).
- Avoid aggressive movements or manipulation of the skin.

AVOID THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES & SUBSTANCES DURING THE FIRST 9 DAYS:
- Keep treated area out of the direct water pressure while in the shower.
- Swimming or gardening.
- Coming into contact with animals.
- Using any laser or chemical peel treatments or products containing active ingredients such as glycolic acid, AHA’s, or Retin-A on your face.
- Picking, peeling, or scratching the area.
- Being in high dust environments.
- Visiting tanning beds, sunbathing, or going to a pool for 2 weeks after the procedure.
- Facials 7-14 days weeks after the procedure.
- Botox for 7-14 days after the procedure.
- Touching the treated area, except when rinsing or cleansing it or applying aftercare treatment with a clean Q-Tip.

During the first seven days after your tattoo removal procedure, it is normal for some itching and flaking to occur. However, following the care instructions outlined above can help reduce these symptoms. It takes approximately 4 weeks for the treatment to “flush out” the pigment before we can remove the remaining pigment.

If you experience any signs or symptoms of infection, such as redness, swelling, tenderness at the procedure site, red streaks radiating from the site towards the heart, a fever, or pus drainage from the site, seek medical care immediately.

It is important to protect the treated area from sun exposure, the use of retinoids, peels, laser treatments, and other powerful exfoliants, as they may cause the pigmentation to fade prematurely. Failure to follow the aftercare instructions provided may put you at risk of infection, pigment loss, or discoloration.

Sun Protection
- Strict Sun Avoidance:

The treated area is more susceptible to sunburn and pigmentation changes.
- Sunscreen Application: Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher even on cloudy days.
Diet and Hydration
- Nutrient-Rich Foods: Foods rich in vitamins A and C can aid in skin healing.
- Stay Hydrated: Adequate water intake is crucial for overall skin health.
Infection Monitoring
- Signs to Watch: Increasing pain, yellow discharge, or spreading redness could indicate an infection.

If these signs occur, please call us 207-808-9709

Remember, the effectiveness of the removal and the healing process can vary greatly depending on individual factors like the age of the tattoo, ink density, and your body's response to the treatment. Generally, multiple sessions are required to remove pigment.

IV-Aesthetics-Eyebrow Permanent Makeup Removal 3.jpeg

Laser tattoo removal is one of the best ways to remove permanent makeup and unwanted tattoos.

In each session, our Duality laser sends quick pulses of light to the area, breaking up the ink into tiny particles that your body’s immune system naturally clears away.

Because tattoos are made up of multiple layers of ink, several sessions are needed to fully remove them. For permanent makeup, it usually takes 4 to 7 sessions, while traditional tattoos might need 8 to 12 sessions for complete removal.

At IV Aesthetics, we use the advanced Astanza Duality laser for safe, effective removal on all skin types, giving you the best possible results.
